Chocolate-covered peanuts from Congo
Unique and tasty chocolate-covered peanuts produced in eastern Congo (DRC) by a company established in connection with Virunga National Park and with the help of Belgium's foremost chocolate experts.
The chocolate is vegan and contains 63% cocoa.
The area is and has been hard hit by conflict, poverty and disease, including Ebola and COVID-19. Chocolate production here contributes to peace and prosperity for the local population, and to the sustainability and protection of the unique wildlife, including the rare mountain gorillas.
As they say at Virunga:
"It's simple. When you buy the chocolate, the farmers around Virunga National Park are happy. The rangers in the park are happy. The gorillas and the rest of the wildlife are happy. And when you take the first bite, you are extremely happy too. That's what we call double happiness!"
