The olive trees in Palestine are both historic and have become a symbol of the country. The production of olive oil is based on ancient traditions and is an ingrained part of the culture. There are olive trees on the West Bank that are several thousand years old. Since 2001, over 500,000 olive trees and hundreds of hectares of agricultural land in the West Bank have been destroyed as a result of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Buying olive oil and planting olive trees therefore contributes both to work and income now and in the future. This is badly needed. As a result of the war in Gaza, the West Bank has also been hit by increased conflict and a serious economic crisis.
