Afghan wealth
Wealth can take many forms.
The Afghan population is plunged into a serious economic crisis and increasing poverty. But Afghanistan still houses one of the world's treasuries when it comes to nuts, almonds and dried fruits. The semi-arid, sun-drenched hillsides provide ideal growing conditions. The countless varieties are unique and historic. Many of the trees grow wild.
The Parwan walnuts have a rich, almost buttery flavor without bitterness.
The figs are dried in the strong Afghan sun, so the flavor is concentrated.
The apricots are smaller and have a powerful taste and are allowed to dry completely on the trees, so that you avoid preserving with sulphur.
The baby pistachios are small, intense and with the most beautiful green and purple color
The dried white mulberries have a sweet crunch and are rich in vitamin C.
Jalghoza pine nuts are world famous as the largest and tastiest pine nuts.
And Afghanistan has registered over 100 different kinds of delicious and nutritious almonds
It is the wealth of nature. It is Afghan biodiversity.
The many unique products are grown by small family farms and cooperatives scattered throughout Afghanistan. The sale to our partner Ziba Foods makes a difference to thousands of Afghan families. It is often the family's only income.
The Afghan nuts and dried fruits generate income and work. And that is badly needed.
Thank you for trading for peace.
Kind Regards,
